Fine art and Documentary Wedding and Family Photographer
I am a New Jersey wedding photographer specializing in artistic and documentary photography. My approach to the day is very photo-journalistic with a blend of fine art imagery. I believe by keeping a laid back attitude, my couples remain stress free and just enjoy the wedding day. Wedding photography should revolve around the wedding day itself, and not the other way around. As a wedding photographer in New Jersey, I thrive on creating epic photos out of ordinary scenes. Even more, I love the reactions I get out of my couples when they see the results!
Your wedding is a very special experience that should be captured with energy and a sense of creativity. I consider every couple my own personal art project as I try to create something unique each time. On that note, I like to make my couples feel very comfortable around my staff and I and just have a few laughs throughout the day! This always brings out the best expressions that make for a great photography, not to mention a fantastic overall experience. I also look beyond the artistic side and try to think like a couple. Simple things that can be overlooked. For example, getting photos of your wedding guests...seems simple enough but often times is over looked by many wedding photographers in the industry.
I also specialize in family and event photography. Whether it’s capturing the essence if childhood, or documenting a sweet 16. My approach to both is quite similar. Creating a connection with my subject is always a priority for me. I feel this allows for the creation of authentic imagery. Please read below for more information.

What to Look for in a Wedding Photographer?
Delgado Studios offers couples the very best wedding photography experience. Are you getting married in New Jersey, New York or Pennsylvania? Who will be your wedding photographer? Here is a list of some of the things you should consider when looking for a wedding photographer.
Personality
When selecting a wedding photographer you are selecting more than just a photographer for your wedding day. You are hiring a wedding photographer that will be with you, your family and your group all day long. Personality is a huge part of the selection process and should not be overlooked or discounted in any way. Your wedding photographer's personality can set the tone for your entire wedding day and your bridal party. Ultimately it can influence your wedding photography altogether. You will more than likely be working with your NJ wedding photographer for a year, or even longer in some instances, by the time you factor in your engagement session, post wedding photography and albums.
Customized Boutique Experience
I believe it's important that your wedding photographer pays special attention to your vision and collaborates with your on your wedding day. The experience we offer as NJ Wedding Photographers is exactly that. The end result becomes something unique. Fine art and luxurious wedding imagery specific to your day and style. My documentary approach also assures we capture those special little moments that will fly by on the big day!
Real Wedding Portfolio
Many times you will find the portfolios of nj wedding photographers to be loaded with images which have been created during a styled photo-shoot, a workshop, or even created while assisting another photographer! While the images may have been taken by those respective wedding photographers, it does not represent the work produced during an actual wedding day. It is infinitely easier to create beautiful images with professional models under stress free, controlled environments. It is much easier to take creative wedding images when you are the second photographer and not the primary wedding photographer. Every image you will see on my wedding portfolio has been taken with real couples during their actual wedding day. Images with myself as the primary photographer. This is something I am very proud of and feel strongly about. When choosing the person that will be in charge of documenting the most important day of your life, make sure that their portfolio images are in fact from real weddings. From their own real weddings.
Cost
The investment you make is always a factor when selecting your New Jersey wedding photographer, but it should not be the only deciding component. Very often I hear the horror stories from brides who made a decision for their wedding photography based primarily on price. It turns out to be unwise in the end. When it is all said and done, your wedding day images will be all you have to remember your wedding day.
Wedding Albums
What will you do with all your images from your wedding photographer? Many couples decide to place them in a beautifully designed wedding album that your wedding photographer should provide you with. Do not underestimate the significance of a wedding album from your wedding day. This is your first family heirloom and your one keepsake you will have forever to remember your wedding. When selecting a wedding photographer, you should look for an album that best characterizes you and your new family. Wedding albums come in all shapes and sizes. Questions you should ask your photographer 1) How many pages come in the wedding album? 2) How many images will be in the wedding album? 3) What leather options are available for my wedding album? I believe your wedding album will be your first family heirloom and should last for generations. Professional quality wedding albums are only available to photography studios. Please do not think that your average consumer book can come close to a professional grade album. Our wedding albums are world class not only in quality, but also in style. We feature classic high end leather albums as well as the latest album trends. Your wedding should have a keepsake to go along with it.
Trendy Editing
While I love the latest trends just like anyone else, I feel it's very important to avoid them when it comes to your wedding day images. Trends come and go, and the last thing you want is a wedding album filled with dated images. As one of the top wedding photographers in New Jersey, I'll make sure my images are free of any trendy editing styles. I believe in crisp natural editing with stunning custom black and white photos as well.
Who Will Be Photographing Your Wedding?
The wedding photography industry is loaded with many larger and corporate style studios that show excellent images on their portfolio that may have been taken by the original photographer. This original photographer is most likely not photographing weddings any longer since they deal with a much higher volume of weddings. Instead these studios rely on associate wedding photographers whose image quality may not be the same. At Delgado Studios , every single wedding is photographed by myself, Joseph Delgado as the primary photographer. You will know exactly who will be photographing your Wedding upon booking. It is critical that every bride and groom know exactly who their New Jersey Wedding Photographer will be on the most important day of their lives. We offer a boutique level of service like no other!
One or Two Photographers?
How many wedding photographers will be at your event? Most events over 150 guests should have at least two wedding photographers. This ensures that your wedding photographer is focused on working with your group and directing the day and allows the second wedding photographer to have coverage going on at the same time. We find that by having two wedding photographers at your event, your wedding photography needs can best be met all while safeguarding that nothing gets missed from your wedding day. All of my second photographers are actually accustomed to being primary wedding photographers. I find this gives us the best quality and extra added insurance on that day. I also bring along an assistant for every wedding. This way my second NJ Wedding Photographer is busy photographing the wedding and not being an assistant.
Adverse Conditions
One of the most important factors when looking through many NJ Wedding photographers is skill set. The ability to deal with challenging conditions is invaluable. Here in New Jersey, we're often not blessed by amazing light and weather all year round. Your wedding photographer needs to have a tremendous amount of skill to deal with bad light, bad weather, etc. You can rest easy knowing that we have plenty of experience dealing with such conditions. Some of my best New Jersey weddings have been photographed in the rain! I cannot remember that last time I even looked at the weather the day before a wedding. My philosophy is simple, let your wedding day come to us and we will document it. That is the essence of documentary wedding photography.
Turnaround time
As an NJ based wedding photographer, this is a question I get a lot. There are so many horror stories out there about photographers not delivering the images on time, sometimes over a year after the wedding! I am proud to say all I make sure entire galleries are ready no later than 8 weeks after your NJ Wedding. I also offer sneak peeks a day or two after your wedding day.
Same Sex Marriages
I am a full support of same sex marriages and I am excited to welcome them to the state of New Jersey! As same sex wedding photographers in New Jersey, I am excited for all of the new wonderful couples I will get to meet and photograph their special day. I am honored when a same sex couple trusts me to capture such a memorable day!
Professional Equipment
While the gear we use is not the reason our photos look fantastic, there are extremely important aspects of professional grade camera bodies and lenses that are critical to wedding photography. When narrowing down your selection of NJ Wedding Photographers , find out if your photographer has "pro-sumer" camera bodies or professional. True professional grade camera bodies have dual media card slots. I cannot stress how important this is. The media cards to which your precious wedding photographs are written to can easily become corrupt or even worse, lost/stolen. By having an NJ Wedding Photographer who shoots with professional grade gear, there will always be an instant backup of your images. Now another aspect of high end gear is the quality of the imagery. If you like images with those dreamy blurry backgrounds, well I can tell you this is done strictly with high end professional grade lenses and not in Photoshop. Here at Delgado Studios, we photograph every wedding with professional equipment.
Delgado Studios is a premier NJ wedding photographer based in Middletown, NJ and offering the best wedding photography in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania. Bring authenticity to your wedding day.
Authentic Family Photography
I enjoy being a nj family photographer for similar reasons. It truly is fantastic when a family brings me into their lives for a day and allow me to capture whats most important to them. I take pleasure in photographing the small little nuances in a family's every day lives which they may not be aware of, capturing the essence of family. These are moments which should be frozen in time to be cherished for generations to come.
Creating imagery that is stunning and unique is a large part of what I do, but a truly great photo must have meaning. This is my ultimate goal throughout the day. I want you to look back at your wedding/family album and not only see what you looked like, but also remember how you felt on this day. What you were about, what experiences you and your family were going through. Thats the good stuff! I take great pleasure in the happiness I can give to my clients when they see the results of my work. To me that is the most satisfying aspect of being a wedding and family photographer. I strive to make sure my clients are always ecstatic with their images and most importantly, with their overall experience.
