Jersey Shore Backyard Wedding | Erin and Edward

A Perfect Jersey Shore Backyard Wedding with Erin and Edward

There’s something beautifully personal about a jersey shore backyard wedding. It strips away all the noise and focuses on what really matters—family, love, and celebration. Erin and Edward’s wedding was the perfect example of this. As the founder and lead photographer at Delgado Studios, I’ve captured weddings in all sorts of venues, but there’s something magical about a couple choosing their own backyard as the setting for one of the most important days of their lives.

Our day began on the coast. We met up at Deal Beach in the early afternoon for a portrait session. The sky was a crisp blue, the breeze was calm, and the energy between Erin and Edward was undeniable. I had my Sony A9iii in hand—a powerhouse of a camera with a global shutter that’s been a total game-changer for the way I shoot. For the photographers reading this, here’s a quick technical note: most of these portraits were taken at 1/32000 to 1/80000 of a second. That’s right—no high-speed sync needed. Using a 200-watt strobe at just 1/16 to 1/8 power with a softbox gave me perfect lighting control, even under full midday sun. The global shutter on the A9iii is truly revolutionary for off-camera lighting enthusiasts.

After the beach portraits, we headed back to North Middletown, where Erin and Edward hosted their intimate jersey shore backyard wedding. Their home was full of personality and warmth, the perfect space for a laid-back, heartfelt celebration. The ceremony took place right in their backyard under a beautifully simple arbor, surrounded by friends, family, and a whole lot of love.

One of my favorite parts of the day—and a big part of Erin and Edward’s life—was the presence of their three Boston Terriers. These pups were full of energy and charm, popping into photos and eventually being let loose towards the end of the night to run around the yard, greet guests, and even steal a few bites of leftover snacks. As someone who loves capturing those unplanned, candid moments, the dogs were a dream come true.

Following the ceremony, the couple treated their guests to an incredible food truck by Nip and Tuck. We’re talking elevated bar food—crispy, flavorful, and exactly what you want to eat after a couple of beers and a happy tear or two. It was another perfect touch that made this jersey shore backyard wedding feel so personal and fun.

As the evening settled in, something unexpected (but very on-brand for Erin and Edward) happened: the pool became the center of attention. First, a few of the dogs dove in. Then some of the guests followed suit—fully clothed and loving every second. There was no pressure, no formality—just people celebrating life, love, and togetherness in the most authentic way.

Photographing this jersey shore backyard wedding reminded me why I do what I do. It’s not just about posing people or snapping pretty pictures. It’s about telling stories. It’s about being present for moments like a spontaneous splash in the pool or a dog sprinting through a sea of guests. Erin and Edward’s wedding was uniquely them—joyful, intimate, and full of life.

If you’re planning your own jersey shore backyard wedding, I’d love to help capture your story. Whether it’s on the beach, in your backyard, or anywhere else that feels like home, I’ll be there to document the day with a creative eye and a relaxed approach. Reach out anytime—I’d love to connect.
